Fit guarantee · Draft terms
What a PASS would cover, and what it would not.
Draft, not in force until the founder signs it off. Under these terms we would cover the rework of a unit that fails a check its fit report marked PASS, not you and not the shop. The lists below say which PASS results they would cover, and which report counts.
Draft. The claim window, the cap, and a way to make a claim are not set yet. They will be added here before the first real unit ships. No real unit has shipped under these terms.
What is covered
Each check marked PASS on the latest fit report saved on your project before the operator review that sent the order to fabrication, for a unit built to the same files and design the report measured, unless it is listed under what is not covered:
- The board, centered in the cavity, has at least 1.0 mm a side, as the report measured.
- The stack of standoff, board, and the tallest catalog connector fits the cavity depth.
- Each mounting hole sits within 0.5 mm of a standoff center.
- Each connector opening sits along the wall within 0.75 mm of its connector, and is at least catalog size.
Full coverage, all four checks, applies only to a board and a case both made in the designer. Uploaded files get fewer checks, so fewer can be covered.
What is not covered
- An order with no fit report saved before that operator review has no fit cover. A build order does not need a fit check, so check before you order if you want cover.
- Any check marked WARN, FAIL, or NOT VERIFIED, and anything the report does not list. A PASS is covered only when nothing in this list excludes it.
- Inside measurements of a case uploaded as STEP. They are estimated from an assumed 2.0 mm wall, so they are not guaranteed even when marked PASS.
- A case uploaded as STL. The check sees only its outside, so it gets no PASS on clearance, stack height, mounting holes, or connector openings.
- Standoffs and openings in a case uploaded as STL or STEP. The check cannot see them, and the report says so.
- Stack height on any board file, uploaded or saved from the tscircuit board editor. Board files do not carry part heights yet, so the report marks stack height NOT VERIFIED, and against an STL case the check does not run.
- Connector openings on any board file, uploaded or saved from the tscircuit board editor. Only boards made in the designer get the opening check.
- Any part other than the tallest connector placed in the designer. The depth check does not know its height.
- How high the opening sits on the wall. The check compares its position along the wall and its width and height against the catalog, not its vertical position.
- Any change to your design or files after that fit report was saved.
- A unit not built to the design files.
- Workmanship, such as a bad solder joint or a cracked case. That is the shop's to rework, at its own cost.
- Electrical function, firmware, and certification. The fit check measures geometry and nothing else.
What happens
- A way to make a claim is not set yet. When it is, you will tell us which check the unit fails.
- We would compare the unit with the latest fit report saved on your project before the operator review that sent the order to fabrication.
- If the report marked that check PASS and nothing above excludes it, we would cover the rework that makes it fit. It would cost you nothing, and the shop would not be penalized.
- If the cause is a defect on the shop's side, the shop would rework it at its own cost.
