Section 1
What Safegrows is
Safegrows takes a team's design files and delivers a finished product, for robotics teams and small hardware startups.
A team sends its board files and a case, or designs them in the Safegrows studio. It orders 1 to 50 units of a board inside its own case.
Before anything is built, Safegrows checks that the board fits the case, and a Safegrows operator reviews the order. Then a verified shop builds it.
- 1. Makers are the teams that design the product and pay for the build.
- 2. Providers are shops like yours that make boards, assemble them, make cases, or source parts.
- 3. Operators are Safegrows staff. They review every order and verify every shop.
Section 2
Why a shop would join
Small shops do good work, but the teams who need them often cannot find them. Safegrows lists your shop where those teams look, and a person checks every job before it is offered.
- 1. Each job is checked and reviewed by a person before it reaches you.
- 2. You get a public storefront that shows what you make, your minimum order, and your lead time.
- 3. You decide which jobs to take. Saying no to a job that does not fit costs you nothing.
- 4. There is no fee to join or to list.
- 5. Safegrows finds the makers, confirms the quote, and will collect the payment, so you can spend your time on the build.
Section 3
How we work together, end to end
Every order follows the same stages. Each move is recorded with the time and who made it.
A job reaches your shop only after it has been through a fit check, and an operator has read the report and reviewed the order.
- 1. A maker uploads board and case files, or designs them in the studio, and runs a fit check of the board against the case.
- 2. The maker asks for a build and sees an instant estimate. A Safegrows operator confirms or revises the price.
- 3. The maker approves the quote. The order then waits for an operator review, because the maker's approval is never the final step.
- 4. At the review, the operator checks the files, the fit report, and the price, and picks a verified shop that fits the job.
- 5. The operator offers the job to your shop. You accept or decline within two working days. If it does not fit your shop, say so, and the operator offers it to another shop.
- 6. Once you accept, the operator assigns the job to your shop and moves it into fabrication. The job then appears in your portal.
- 7. You see only what is shared for your job, and nothing from the maker's other projects.
- 8. You move the job through assembly, testing, and shipping. Each move needs a short note, and the maker reads every note.
- 9. The operator marks the order delivered from the carrier record.
Section 4
Who moves each stage
Only the role named for a stage can move it. Safegrows refuses any other move.
- 1. Fabrication is moved by the operator, after you accept the job. That is the point where the order is committed to your shop.
- 2. Assembly, testing, and shipping are moved by your shop, each with a note the maker reads.
- 3. Delivered is set by the operator from the carrier record.
- 4. Your shop cannot cancel a job in the portal. If a job must stop, tell the operator, who decides and writes the reason on the record.
Section 5
What you get
Joining costs nothing. A verified shop gets four things.
- 1. Jobs that are ready to build. Each job has been through a fit check, and an operator has read the report. An operator shares the files with you for each job.
- 2. A storefront. A public page with your capabilities, minimum order, lead time, and largest board, and a verified badge once an operator verifies your shop.
- 3. A fair match. Jobs go to the verified shops that fit them, and payment cannot buy a better match. Safegrows does not promise any number of jobs, and none is sent while the terms are a draft.
- 4. Clear payment rules. Your price for each job is agreed with you in writing before assignment. Clause 7 of the provider terms says when payout falls due, and which points are still open.
Section 6
How pricing and payment work for you
Your price for a job is the price the operator agreed with you in writing before assignment.
The maker's price comes from the Safegrows rate card and is set separately from yours. Safegrows pays you your agreed price in full and takes no fee or cut from it.
- 1. Before a job is assigned to you, the operator agrees your price for that job with you in writing.
- 2. The maker sees a separate Safegrows service line and an operator review line on the quote. Both are added on top of the rate card build estimate.
- 3. Your price includes parts, the case, packing, and shipping to the address in the job, unless the operator agrees otherwise in writing.
- 4. Payout for a job becomes due after it passes the testing stage and the photo record is in the order.
- 5. Prices on Safegrows are in US dollars.
- 6. There is no fee to join or to list. If Safegrows adds a paid plan later, it will be optional, and it will never buy placement ahead of fit.
- 7. Rework caused by a defect in your shop is your cost.
- 8. Rework caused by a fit failure, on a check that the reviewed fit report marked PASS, on a unit built to the design files, is a Safegrows cost.
- 9. If an order is canceled after you accepted the job, through no fault of yours, Safegrows pays for the work done and the parts bought for it.
- 10. Payouts are not open yet. They open only after Safegrows connects banking and a person approves it.
Section 7
How ratings and placement work
Safegrows ranks the shops that fit each job. The ranked list helps the operator choose a shop, and the operator makes the choice.
- 1. Fit comes first. A job is matched on the capabilities it needs, the board size, and the order size, against what your shop stated.
- 2. Verification comes next. Verified shops rank above shops that are not verified.
- 3. Then your record. Of all quality measures, only two will move your placement: on time delivery and fit accuracy.
- 4. Fit accuracy means the share of your units that fit their case at delivery, not counting failures under clause 4.4 of the provider terms.
- 5. Both will be measured from real jobs on Safegrows, not from opinions or paid reviews. Until then, placement uses fit and verification only.
- 6. One late job, with a note sent before the due date, is fine. A late job without a word counts against you.
- 7. Placement cannot be bought. No payment puts a shop ahead of a shop that fits the job better.
- 8. A better record moves you up the ranked list for the jobs you fit. The operator makes the choice.
- 9. There are no measured shop records yet. A new shop starts with an empty record, and Safegrows shows no number until real jobs produce one.
Section 8
What we expect from you
These six expectations protect the makers who trust you with their designs, and the shops that do honest work.
- 1. Identity and verification. Your company is real, and the person who signs up can act for it. You send what verification asks for, and you keep it current.
- 2. Capabilities and capacity. You state only what your shop can do and how much it can take on. If another company does part of the work, you say who.
- 3. Quality standards. You build to the files and the job notes. You test each unit as the testing stage says, and you fix your own defects at your own cost.
- 4. Honest pricing and lead times. Your price and your lead time are numbers you can meet. If a job will be late, you tell us before the due date.
- 5. Confidentiality and non use. You use a maker's design only to build that job. You share it with no one who does not need it. You delete it when Safegrows tells you the job is closed, as clause 5.5 of the provider terms says.
- 6. No going around Safegrows. You do not take a job, or a maker you met through Safegrows, outside the platform, except as clause 6 of the provider terms allows.
Section 9
The rules that protect everyone
These rules protect makers, shops, and Safegrows. They are few, and they are firm.
- 1. A maker's design belongs to the maker. A shop uses it only to build that job.
- 2. A shop's prices and processes are not shown to other shops.
- 3. Every order passes a human review before it is committed to a shop.
- 4. Every stage move, note, and decision is kept on the record, with who made it and when.
- 5. Nothing about a shop is live or verified until a Safegrows operator approves it.
- 6. No shop, review, or number is invented. Where a record does not exist yet, the page says so.
- 7. Going around Safegrows to take a job. Sharing a maker's files with anyone not needed for the build. Claiming a capability you do not have without saying who does that work.
- 8. These three things, false information, or another serious breach of the provider terms can end a listing. Clause 9 of the terms says how.
- 9. Before a listing is ended, Safegrows tells the shop why, and the shop can answer.
Section 10
How to join
Joining takes a few steps. Nothing about your shop goes live until a person at Safegrows has checked it.
- 1. Read this playbook and the provider terms.
- 2. Create an account.
- 3. Read and accept the provider terms. You accept the exact version you read, and Safegrows records which version it was.
- 4. Enter your company details and what your shop makes: capabilities, capacity, minimum order, lead time, and the largest board you handle.
- 5. Upload what verification needs: proof that the company is registered, proof that you can act for it, and photos or records of the work you say you do.
- 6. Your shop then waits in review. It is not listed, not live, and not verified, and it receives no jobs.
- 7. An operator checks what you sent. The operator approves your shop, asks for more, or declines it and tells you why. There is no fixed review time yet. Your application page shows every decision, and where your application stands at any time.
- 8. Once approved, your storefront is listed with the verified badge, and the full provider playbook opens.
- 9. While the terms are a draft, approval verifies your shop only. No real maker job and no design file is sent to any shop until that shop has accepted an in force version 1.0.
Section 11
Where things stand today
This is what works today and what does not yet, so nothing here surprises you later.
- 1. Payouts to shops are not open yet.
- 2. Makers do not pay for fit checks or builds through Safegrows yet.
- 3. The provider terms are draft 0.1. It is not in force, it creates no obligation for anyone, and it never becomes binding by itself. Version 1.0 binds a provider only after that provider reads and accepts version 1.0.
- 4. While the terms are a draft, approval verifies your shop only. No real maker job and no design file is sent to any shop until that shop has accepted an in force version 1.0.
- 5. There is no shop price field yet, and the operator confirms your price in writing.
- 6. There is no accept or decline button yet. Tell the operator within two working days, and the operator records your answer.
- 7. On time delivery and fit accuracy are not measured yet. Placement today uses fit and verification only.
- 8. A job whose fit report shows WARN or FAIL is not held back automatically yet. An operator reads every fit report before a job is offered.
- 9. There are no measured shop records yet.
- 10. Some portal features in this playbook are still being built: the file package view, photo upload, and a message box on each job.
- 11. Until the message box exists, every question, rework, and dispute goes to the operator contact you get at verification.
- 12. Your application page shows every decision on your application, and your portal shows every job assigned to your shop.
Every published version
Every version stays readable at its own address, so a link to a version always shows the words of that version.
